Risk Management

Responsibilities and Services
Risk Management is responsible for protecting the County's assets from the risk of accidental losses and injuries. The primary functions are to develop, promote, and track safety programs that meet or exceed OSHA regulations, evaluate risk, procure insurance policies and administer workers' compensation, property, general liability and automobile claims.

In addition, Risk Management fosters a culture of safety through employee training, monthly safety review and quarterly safety committee meetings that involve all departments in the commitment to ensure a safe environment for all employees, as well as the citizens who visit the County's facilities daily.

Summer is here. Time to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends. Keep these summer safety tips in mind at home, at work, or on vacation to keep your family safe this summer.

     Practice Sun Safety

  • Apply sunscreen at lease 30 minutes before going outdoors.
  • Use at least SPF15 or greater, covering all exposed skin.
  • Make sure to reapply every two hours, after swimming, sweating or toweling off.
  • Wear sunglasses that block both UVA AND UVB rays.

     Water Safety

  • Always supervise children in or around the water.

    Preventing Heat Related Illness

  • Choose lightweight, light-colored loose fitting clothing.
  • Schedule outdoor activities carefully. Try to limit outdoor activity when it is coolest, like morning and evening hours.
  • Never leave children or pets in a parked car.
  • Stay hydrated, drinking plenty of fluids. Avoid very sugary or alcoholic drinks.
  • Check your local news for extreme heat alerts and seek cooling shelters if necessary.
