Maryland Public Information Act

The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office complies with Maryland law governing access to public records. Requests for public records shall be submitted under the Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA).

MPIA requests must be submitted in writing with specific details about the information you are requesting. Your request may be handwritten or typed. Requests being made on behalf of a business or organization should be submitted on official letterhead.

Requests that exceed two (2) hours to research and copy, will be charged an hourly rate fee. The hourly rate fee will be based off the identified staff member(s) that are assigned to complete the request.

We accept personal checks or cash for requests that do not exceed $500.00 dollars. For requests that exceed $500.00 dollars, we will ONLY accept a certified cashier’s check or money order made payable to “Calvert County Sheriff’s Office.”

The Agency will not begin processing the request until payment has been received.
