Overview
We offer American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim programs, lifeguard and water safety instructor courses, pool operators course, swim teams, water fitness classes and many other aquatic programs.

Important Program Information
Program Make-Up Days
We do not make up lessons that are missed to illness or other personal reasons.
Waiting List
If a class is full and you would like to be notified of any openings, we do have a waiting list available.
Cancellations
All classes require specific minimums to be held. If we do not reach that number we will cancel the class. Calls will be made to those already signed up to inform of the cancellation.
Parks and Recreation Refund Policy
- Refunds of $5 and over will be made automatically where classes are filled or canceled by the Division of Parks and Recreation or upon request when schedule changes (i.e. time, days) by the division prohibit attendance. If activity was paid for by a credit card and the activity is canceled, credit will be refunded automatically to the card.
- Refunds under $5 for the above reasons will be applied to the household and available for use until June 1. Refunds will be mailed if balance is not used.
- Refunds requested prior to the first class will be granted less a $5 processing fee.
- Refunds requested after the first class meeting but prior to the second meeting shall be granted. A pro-rated fee for the first class and a $5 processing fee will be deducted from the refund.
- Refunds requested after the second class and prior to the end of the class series will be made only for medical reasons which prevent continued participation. A doctor’s excuse must accompany the written request. A pro-rated fee for each class conducted prior to the receipt of the request will be deducted from all refunds issued for medical reasons, along with a $5 processing fee.
- No refunds will be given after the program has ended.
- No refunds will be given for Open Gym programs.
- Refunds for non-class activities such as special events, workshops and sports programs may be different from the policy above. Check brochure or flyer for specific information.
Please note that refunds for all cash, checks and money orders take a minimum of three to four weeks for processing.
Swim Lesson Policies and Procedures
- Registration begin and end dates vary depending on the session. Please contact the Hall Aquatic Center for more information.
- We do not reserve spaces; payment is due at time of registration.
- Register early, classes fill up quickly. Classes that have not met minimum enrollment by the Thursday before the start date will be canceled. Classes canceled by the facility will receive a full refund. Please see class cancellation policy in the brochure.
- If the class is full, please sign up on the waiting list. The facility will contact you if space becomes available. Users should only be placed on one swimming lesson waiting list per session. If you are on a waiting list (or registered for a class) and prefer a different one please contact the Hall Aquatic Center directly for assistance.
- Please read class descriptions carefully. If a child is not placed correctly, there may not be an opportunity for them to be moved into another level.
- Make-up classes are not available if a child misses a class.
- Check-in is 15 minutes before class at front desk. Children may pay the general admission fee to utilize the facility before or after the class.
- Parents, to minimize distraction and take advantage of the entire class session, please do not disturb your child or instructor during the lesson. Please discuss questions with instructors before or after class.
- Water safety is presented in each level of the ’Learn to Swim’ program.
- Parents / guardians of the students must remain in the designated spectator area during lessons.
- Students are permitted to bring their goggles, but we recommend that they become used to putting their face in the water without goggles first. (No full-face or scuba masks)

PARENT & CHILD: Children aged 6 months to 3 years will be familiarized with the water and taught swimming readiness skills. Instructors will provide safety information for parents and teach techniques parents can use to orient their children to the water. Children who are not potty trained will be required to wear a swim diaper under their suit. All participants need to be accompanied by an adult in swimming attire in the pool. One parent will also be permitted poolside.
LITTLE SWIMMERS: This course is for students aged 4 to 5. Preschoolers will learn to become comfortable in the water, learn basic swimming skills, and move from performing skills with assistance to performing skills independently. Students will remain in Little Swimmers until they reach six (6) years of age. All students will be addressed on the first day of class and placed into groups according to ability, regardless of prior participation or placement. Class sizes are limited to ensure safety and successful instruction.
Basics: This course is for students aged 6 to 12 who are in tested in learning introductory swimming skills. This course covers submerging, floating on front and back, basic swimming strokes on front and back, rotary breathing, jumping in and treading water. All students will be assessed on the first day of class and placed into groups according to ability, regardless of prior participation or placement. Class sizes are limited to ensure safety and successful instruction.
Learning the Strokes: This course is designed for participants ages 6 to 13 who have successfully completed ALL requirements for Red Cross Level 1-2 prior to participating in this class. Students will experience front crawl and backstrokes, and will learn and become proficient in breaststroke, butterfly, and sidestroke while building endurance. Dives, starts, and turns will also be taught. All students will be assessed on the first day of class and placed into groups according to ability, regardless of prior participation or placement. Class sizes are limited to ensure safety and successful instruction.
Mastering the Strokes: This course is designed for participants ages 7-13 years who have successfully completed all requirements for American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Level 3-4 prior to participating in this class. Students will refine their front and back crawl, and enhance efficiency in breaststroke, butterfly, and sidestroke while building endurance. Dives, starts, and turns will also be refined. All students will be assessed on the first day of class and placed into groups according to ability, regardless of prior position or placement. Class sizes are limited to ensure safety and successful instruction.
SWIM CONDITIONING: This is class is for students looking for an alternative to traditional swim lessons. Each lesson begins with a warm swim and is followed with drills for skill improvement. The class offers a swim workout while working on strokes. Swimmers must be able to swim a 25 yd freestyle and a 25 yd backstroke before registering for this course.
TEEN SWIM LESSONS: This class is for teens of all swimming abilities. Regardless if you're just getting your feet wet or can swim along the sharks, you will find an approach catered towards your direct swimming ability. This class is for participants age 13 to 17 years.
ADULT SWIM LESSONS: This adult class helps students feel comfortable in and around the water. Participants will learn to float and basic arm and leg movements to lay the foundation for future strokes. Register for this level if you don't want to let go of the wall or are uncomfortable in water over your head. This class is for participants 18 years and older.
ADAPTIVE SWIM LESSONS: This program is developed for individuals with various special needs. Lessons will build upon their strengths while working toward learning strokes such as the front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke and sidestroke. Water safety, good swimming habits and safe practices in and around the water will be stressed to all participants.
